This is where we are... Van is dead and buried. We've been using a farm truck for a dollar an hour pay cut. (with the understanding that the "rental and maintenance fee", as they called it would be advanced for the winter lay off. (We are currently paying off an advance from when we first got here).

The weather got bad and the ground was too wet so the winter lay off came 10 days early (that is like a months rent in lost pay). Now we can't have the truck for the winter, when Dave goes in for his last cheque they are going to drive him home and then pick him up again when they call him back Feb 1st.

He has a mere 24 hours pay coming and there is supposedly a "thank you card" there waiting too. The boss is Australia with his wife and kids for a month and his dad is supposed to write the last cheque call when it is ready and drive Dave home. Dad does not like Dave so much, and constantly berates how his son is running the business (Apparently this son will never measure up to the son that died)

Unless there is 2 grand in the thank you card we are totally screwed. None of those extra hours spent harvesting those trees resulted in overtime as farm workers are exempt from time and a half. The final tree count was 99,484 trees these will sell for $8-$12 (plus there were all the apples, pears, peaches, cherries and plums and the juice apples) 2 grand would he a HUGE bonus for 5 months work.

On the upside, we don't need a truck for the winter we won't be able to afford to go anywhere anyway (including the grocery store, which I can walk to should the opportunity arise)... and this way we won't be paying $50 a week for a truck we are not driving "on account".

So anyway we are back in Ontario and DAVE GOT THE JOB. He started today as the boss was taking the Civic Holiday (yesterday) off to be with his family. He is now a fruit farm manager Apples, peaches, plums, cherries, pears and yes he has fruit experience too.

This is a GOOD JOB pays 1 1/2 times the job in NS paid and the cost of living is lower here... (well it will be when we get out of this Motel, lol). He is going to get a company phone this week and a company truck in a year (when the boss buys his new one). Now just have to figure out how we are going to make it to his first payday as we are about $700 short.

Also when the new owners from the Herb farm totally take over they want him back..... but it will be unlikely they can match the offer he has now.

We still don't have a perminant address but the EX claims it is another hearing notice as Jordan nuked her last 2 weeks of school, and Amber didn't go all year. The crap never ends with these kids.... but it has been a summer of concerts, fairs and fun in thier house all the same. Amber was allowed to have her GIRL friend from Texas come for the summer. (it does appear Amber is completing Summer school although the girlfriend left before the second session is over so I say that with trepidation.)

Sabrina rocks as usual, Grad school actually challenges her which is the first time in her life that school has been a challenge.

Harley has spent over a month with his dad (so his mom can go on the road with her trucker husband) and now he wants to live with him. His mother has completly lost her mind over this and is doing whatever she can do to destroy him and his life. She hates anyone who supports Harley for who he IS. (eventhough without Harley at home she could continue to be a faux trucking Momma with her faux trucker husband)

Saturday in the Van before the Civic Holiday

Bertha was on a roll yelling at Touquee for hours all evening Saturday so we just stayed out of the way in the basement, all was quiet about 9pm and  Dave wanted to eat someting so I went and got some food from my car and when I put on a pot of water to boil some of our pasta  Bertha  blew up at me and started screaming at me for using the kitchen so late. When I tried to calmly reply she asked that I not speak to her and informed me that we are not related which really hit a sore spot with Dave and we packed our shit and left. We drove to a quiet spot and I slept in the van while Dave slept on the ground. She has since slandered me to the entire family. We have confirmation of this.

Part of her rant was that we are all of her food.... Poor poor Bertha who rented an Explorer for a week to go to the casino to gamble away her car repair money.

WHAT FOOD????

ALL we ate in SIX DAYS was the big package of sausage she said was going to rot and she told us to eat, some bread, some shriveling potatoes (she has another big bag) half a shriveling green pepper, 2 onions, about 2 oz of cheese, 4 burgers from a giant multi pack,  4 plums that were about to go bad and a had a handful of baby carrots from a bag that that I am sure are slimed by now and some freezies

...but we bought 27 freezies, a bag of milk (1 gal), 1 gal of premium OJ, and brought a bunch of tomatoes from Wallys garden and 2 huge bags of peaches from the farm Dave got the job at all that we left behind.

I asked Dave if we should send her a $50 Sobeys card after he gets a few checks ahead and he said "fuck her". I may send the card behind his back and tell her that I have done that, what he said and that this will be my final communication.

She is a total whack job, more than Dave even. We stayed with her a month once, waiting on taxes to get an apartment, gave her over $400 (the agreement was one electric bill but somehow we ended up paying 2) brought all our own food which her family used (and we didn't care) bought her dog 30# of food and gave her a washer and dryer which she used for a year and a half and then sold (even though there was another family member that had posted on facebook stating they needed a set)
